Back-to-Back Top Three

Another strong weekend, another trip to the final four — and signs that the Colts were already learning from Week One.

A Colts baserunner sprinting toward home plate past the catcher, mid-stride with his arm extended.

One week after opening the season with a third-place finish, the Colts did it again.

Saturday started with a statement.

AMDG put up 19 runs against Trosky, with Blake tripling, Kayleb driving in three, and the lineup creating pressure from the first inning on. Kayleb was just as sharp on the mound, striking out four while throwing 17 of 26 pitches for strikes. Sam finished the game without a strikeout, but with something even cleaner: seven pitches, seven strikes.

The bats stayed hot in game two.

Carson tripled and drove in three runs, Benji added an RBI double, and the Colts kept building on the momentum from the opener. On the mound, Tommy struck out five, Everett added two more, and Benji finished with two of his own.

By the end of Saturday, AMDG had scored 29 runs across two wins and earned another place in Sunday’s bracket.

Sunday took a little longer to come together.

The Colts fell behind Xtreme Heat early and had to work their way back into the game. Everett gave them a chance to settle in, striking out seven.

Then Teo helped change the momentum.

He drove a double into the outfield and, on the same play, kept going and stole third. Moments later, Sam lined a ball to center to bring Teo home for the Colts’ first run.

From there, the offense found its rhythm.

AMDG kept piling on, finished with 15 hits, and turned an early deficit into a 12–6 win.

That sent the boys back to the semifinals, where they faced an undefeated 5Star Mafia team.

The Colts were a little sloppy early, and the bats didn’t really arrive until the fifth inning. By then, they were chasing the game against the best pitching they had seen so far this season.

The weekend ended there, but the bigger story was the same one that had been building since opening weekend.

This team was starting to adjust faster.

They could win big. They could come from behind. They could settle down after a slow start. And they were beginning to show that one bad inning or one tough matchup didn’t have to define the rest of the day.

“Back-to-back third-place finishes were a good result. The way the Colts were learning to respond was even better.”
